The company began as Joel and Aronoff Inc in 1945 in New York City. It was a family-owned emblem business that focused on the industrial laundry industry.

In 1952, Jerold Carr came on board to Joel and Araonoff, and after 10 years as a successful salesperson, bought the company from the owners in 1962

By 1975, Carr had moved the headquarters to Ridgefield, N.J., opened a second facility in Fairview, N.J. and a third location in California, while growing annual revenue to $6 million (roughly $31 million in today’s dollars).

In 1978, J&A International was founded in England, with Jerold Carr as the sole proprietor to serve the European market. It produces garments for the sportswear, safety wear, workwear and promotional markets and continues to thrive there.

In 1987, Jerold Carr started a sister company, Emblem Service Center, in Miami, which was the first step in moving embroidery production and emblem manufacturing to locations in Florida

By 1990, Jerold’s two sons, Randy and Jamie Carr, joined the business. Joel and Aronson was closed and assets were transferred to Emblem Service Center

In 1993, the company name was changed from Emblem Service Center to World Emblem.

In 1998, As Jerold moved toward retirement, Randy became president and Jamie was named vice president of sales. Jerold passed in 2000. Under the direction of Randy and Jamie, the company continued to grow and expand.

In 2005, a plant was opened in Mexico, the following year, 2006, World Emblem surpassed its largest competitor, Penn Emblem, as the largest patch producer in the world.

In 2010, the U.S. division of Name Badges International was launched expanding the company’s product offerings to digitally printed, domed name tags. Sales from this division are expected to more than double in the coming year in comparison to 2012.

FlexStyle Emblems were launched, with innovative technology in the industry.

FlexStyle comes in six distinct styles. Textured has deep texturing and detail, Domed features a shiny 3D surface, Flat has an elegant flat appearance, Beveled has sharper edges for a more refined look, Holographic which can be flipping, floating or scrolling effect; and FlexStyle Signatures with supreme detail.

In 2015, President and CEO Randy Carr is named to Stitches Magazine Power 75 list. This honor came in recognition of the company’s use of automated equipment to coordinate each step of the production process as well as a heavy investment in an advanced ordering system that allowed them to handle everything from design to ordering to checking sales history to invoicing.

Stickers International launched in 2016 offering domed, metallic, glossy, matte and other types of stickers as well as window clings, clear labels and paper labels.

In 2017, World Emblem is recognized by Aramark as its vendor of the year, and in 2019 Aramark presents the company with its inaugural Passion For Partnership Award. This is to spotlight a company that goes above and beyond Aramark’s expectations.

The company took a giant step forward technologically in 2019 by adding application programming interface (API) to its list of services. This automated ordering for customers as well as making the process faster and more error proof.

A sister company, Fastpens was created

In July 2021 World Emblem is nominated for the first time as a Top 40 Supplier for ASI. It also released an innovative new product called PV+ Emblems. Made of soft rubber, this decoration offers an exciting three-dimensional look to any product.

To be named a Counselor Best Place to Work, industry firms participated in a months-long survey process where employees evaluated their company on 17 different qualities. To give an idea of the strength of employee satisfaction among all firms nominated, no company scored less than 3.5 in any one category. Counselor then analyzed the scores to determine the final rankings.

the Counselor team obtained certified financial results for the Top 40 suppliers, and conducted research and interviews to vet the results, including deeper inquiries when companies posted significant sales growth or declines.
